BYU Beats Texas Tech In Their 2nd Meeting This Season
BYU played #10 Texas Tech for the 2nd time this season. Facing off against Texas Tech for the first time this season in January, BYU lost to Texas Tech 84-71 in Lubbock.
This game was a different story.
On senior night, BYU's final home game of the regular season and final game of the regular season, BYU defeated #10 Texas Tech 82-76.
In the 1st half, Texas Tech was making bank from 3. 36 out of their 46 points at halftime were from 3's. While BYU was 5/18 on their 3's. But cooking on their field goals. At halftime, BYU was down 46-38. Which really was pretty good, we just needed to come out and play really well like we do in the 2nd half a lot of the time.
BYU stopped Texas Tech from draining 3's in the 2 half, only allowing 4 three pointers to be made.
BYU played a hard game and won! After, BYU fans stormed the court in their team's win!
Many players contributed to the game, helping BYU win against Texas Tech.
For offense, it was Rob Wright III, who led BYU in scoring with 27 points, scoring 23 of those in the 2nd half. He played really good offensively and helped BYU by making all of his free throws, especially at the end. Rob Wright is not someone you want to foul at the end.
For defense, it was Khadim Mboup. He was guarding Christian Anderson and played AMAZING defense on him. He held him big time! I think Mboup definitely had some stellar defense because he was able to hold Christian Anderson and helped BYU win on the defense.
One of my favorite plays was when Rob Wright III got passed the ball after a defensive rebound. He raced down the court, and there was a man on him, and two other Texas Tech players were down there, Rob Wright slowed down, and looked toward the other BYU players on the court as the Texas Tech defenders tried to get on their man, Rob Wright went for the hoop with no one on him and tied to score 64-64.
A clutch play was with about a minute and a half left on the clock, Kennard Davis Jr. makes a three, putting BYU up by 3, and forcing Texas Tech to either make their shots or start fouling BYU.
Something BYU did really well was their rebounds, sharing the ball, and limiting their turnovers. BYU had 41 rebounds-20 offensive and 21 defensive. BYU shared the ball really well, having 3 people in double digits for scoring. BYU limited their turnovers to 3. Which is amazing! Off of 9 Texas Tech turnovers, BYU scored 13 points!
BYU played a SPECTACULAR game against Texas Tech and came out with a win on Senior Night!
